Our final America’s Great Outdoors internship site featured is unlike the others presented in our past blog posts. This site will be in the metro Washington DC area, at the USDA Forest Service’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. A very exciting opportunity!

Internship work at this location will focus on coordinating citizen science and public outreach related to migratory/nesting bird conservation. Our intern will be provided with opportunities to learn about and interact with Forest Service staff and partners from other wildlife fields. One of the most important aspects of this internship will be to  develop bilingual (English/Spanish) presentations, outreach materials and web content. This way the intern will be able to develop and implement a media and communications program that appeals to and educates local and national-level Spanish-speaking audiences. A large part of this internship will be to work with educators as part of our environmental education and interpretative programs.

While this internship may not include field work, as the others do, the work that comes with this opportunity is imperative to both Latinos and future conservation efforts in the Washington DC area. Be on the look out to see who the intern will be for this site!
