This week I met with Patty Sun from the Audubon Center in Debs Park to discuss having an IMBD event at the park. The center has been very supportive and helpful. They offered to provide the materials needed for the activities we have planned to host next week at the event and they have offered help in setting up and carrying out the activities. We plan to start the event with a bird walk in the morning. We will have three different stations set up when we return from the walk. One activity will be the Migration Game. Another activity will be making bird feeders out of pine cones. The third activity will be planting seeds of some plants that Hummingbirds love. I am excited for the event. It will be very fun to be a part of it.

I also had the opportunity to join Patty Sun and Jeff Chapman from the Audubon Center in Debs Park in a Hummingbird Walk. It was a hot day but we still got to see a few Allen’s Hummingbirds and other birds foraging and keeping cool in a water fountain. During the walk we met a boy named Marlon who was very excited to spot the birds flying past us and see them feeding. It was very nice to see his excitement during birdwatching. I look forward to seeing Marlon again at the IMBD event next week.
