So I think every person makes that one big decision that really kick-starts their career. When I got the acceptance letter from Cassy Bohnet, EFTA’s Project Coordinator, I had so many emotions at the time. I just bought a house in Fort Collins (I know, great timing), and I don’t know anyone in Boulder. I almost even wanted to turn down the offer because I was so scared about losing everything I had in Fort Collins. I was comfortable. That wasn’t a good enough excuse though. The year 2015 was a big year for me. I went to Texas, conquered my fear of heights not once, not twice, but three times, visited Thailand and Japan. I traveled to 7 different states, took a 5 credit class in 4 weeks, and I even snowboarded for the first time. So why should I stop there? Once I came to my senses I knew I would always regret not taking the internship if I stayed in Fort Collins. So here I am now, sitting at my cool desk with my own laptop. The first week has already shown me the amount of responsibility I have. Some of the tasks I have already been given include planning an event, calling the other interns or even people at other agencies, setting up plane tickets, you know, grown up things like that. Just as a side note, I am really glad I have Cassy watching me because Lord knows I need it. Anywho, long story short, my time here has been productive. Although, I can’t wait to put on my hiking boots and count some birds soon. I am excited to see where my career is going to go after this internship ends.
