“I said a bird, bird, bird is the word. I said a bird, bird, bird is the word.”
This week I had the privilege of seeing the endangered Red Knot in its breeding plumage at one of my sites in Elkhorn Slough! As I had this beautiful bird in the scope, I saw some fellow bird watchers and encouraged them to look through my scope, since all they had were binoculars. They greatly appreciated me pointing out this endangered species, and we continued to have a great conversation about birds. I also had my first sighting of Ruddy Turnstones this season.
I really enjoy when volunteers come out and I get to share my knowledge with them, especially when they come back and remember some of the birds and information I shared with them from the last time!
