Snow Snow Go Away, Come Again Another Day
This week was to be the start of our shorebird surveys, but due to snow falling in late April we were forced to postpone our survey until next week. On April 16, 2016, snow reports came in, and Monte Vista had received 20 inches of wet snow. The storm continued to move through the valley all day Sunday and returned on Monday. On Monday the southern half of the San Luis Valley really got hit, with Antonito receiving an additional foot, which caused local schools and businesses to close. Due to the significant amount of wet snow, which made the roads impassable, our bosses requested that we postpone our survey until next week.
