IMG_0303 editIn less than a week, the most exciting event of celebrating my favorite seabird is coming to Yakutat: The Tern Festival. For weeks, the U.S. Forest Service has spent many hours preparing this event with fun activities for kids, field trips, keynote speakers, book authors, and a 10K run through the woods of Yakutat. It will be an exciting event for all of us, and I can’t wait to see Jim Chu again and talk to a few other bird biologists who will be visiting for this amazing celebration. On a side note, my field partner and I were out surveying and were able to take pictures of a Red Knot with a yellow and red tag. In Wrangell, the Forest Service was looking for tagged shorebirds to report to United States Geological Survey’s bird banding website. So I reported this Red Knot and the website said I would be notified for an award for reporting this bird, but I think it’s just a certificate. Anyway, its seems my adventure in Yakutat is soon coming to an end, but I am glad that my ending will be at the Tern Festival before I continue my adventure in Southeast Alaska.
