20160509_121028This week has been so much fun, teaching kids from kindergarten all the way up to high school about myself, Environment for the Americas, and my favorite subject–birding. From general birding to the Migratory Bird Treaty and International Migratory Bird Day, I have been teaching all the knowledge I have gained, which has excited many children about working in the field of biology. I was able to show them the Western Sandpiper, Wilson’s Warbler, Arctic Tern, and many other birds we encountered out in the field, and I did fun quizzes and activities that allowed them to learn why birds migrate or behave the way they do. It been rewarding teaching the children from Yakutat School District what I love and why I do it, and I hope I inspire them to become wildlife biologists.

Very rewarding working with children, glad you had a chance to educate them on the beauty of birds in Yakutat.
