It’s hard to grasp that I only have six weeks left in this internship. Time has passed so quickly. I can vividly remember arriving in Newport in March, not knowing what to expect. Before this internship I had no prior knowledge of birds, but over time I have gained a deep appreciation and love for them. This internship has sparked an interest in me to gain more hands-on experience with birds such as banding, tagging, or rehabilitation. I’ve also come to love field research, and I would not have known this otherwise. Overall, it’s been tough being out here on my own nevertheless, but the journey has been worthwhile.  I am excited to return home for a bit longer than a few days in August, before I seek another adventure. I’ve been applying to internships and job opportunities in different places, including Hawaii, South Carolina, and Ecuador. Stay posted to find out what happens next on my journey!
