Hello, everyone!!

🙂 This week I wanted to do something a bit different, so here’s a poem and hope y’all enjoy!!

It is a place where habitats surely intertwine; where wildflowers of all colors delight and meet the eyes,

The shade the oaks provide, is something of a fairytale-The place where rivers kiss the sea, is beauty truly rare.

Very few might actually know, the importance of such a place…where saltwater and freshwater dance together, keeping rhythm and one pace.

Life under the muddy waters, in silence seems to thrive, until placed under the microscope, and suddenly comes alive.

Yet not only the small, but larger creatures we see, collect in large numbers, sometimes hard to conceive.

Like the hundreds or thousands of Western sandpipers,or scattered godwits, that sometimes the numbers,

Make us realize how dependent they are..On Elkhorn slough as their resting and feeding spot.

Such diversity of species, such varied abundance too, from the plovers and the willets, to the cormorant and coots.

The red-tail hawk and other raptors also keep their eyes, keen on these shorebird species, staying quite close by.

The sea otters and seals feed and play along the tide, entertaining all the visitors and locals that pass by

Of life abundant, both in water, land and air..Where young and old come to learn, or take away their cares..

A place of curiosity, tranquility, beauty and conservation…

It’s a place of discovery and constant restoration..

A place that is so dynamic, yet looks so still…

A place meant to endure for ages… and hope always will.
