This is one of EftA’s LA interns, Carla. I’m here to give you an update on what I’ve been up to so far. I’ve been keeping busy and doing point count surveys at the Angeles national forest approximately 1-2 times a week. Up until now I was still conducting shorebird surveys at Ballona Wetlands. Unfortunately I’ve only seen killdeer, which are found year round in LA, thus the shorebird survey part of my internship has concluded. I am excited to start doing snowy plover nest monitoring as we have three nests at Dockwieler State beach. This week consisted of our last tabling event for maybe the rest of the summer. This event was CausePlay held at the Los Angeles Historic Park. I believe this was the events first year being held, thus it was a fairly smaller crowd than usual. Despite this, I had fun enjoying a Sunday at a beautiful park. There were many great booths along with ours, which is something I always look forward to. I’ve also attended two camp sign up days at Baldwin Hills Library. We are preparing for our summer camp, and I can’t wait to start this part of my internship in June!
